A note from the founder
Agriculture does not fail because farmers are not working.
Every day, farmers produce. Cooperatives organise. Traders buy. Transporters move. Processors add value. Financial institutions look for viable opportunities. Governments and development organisations invest in programmes.
Yet too often, these activities remain disconnected.
A farmer’s production may not be visible to a buyer. A cooperative may have little reliable information about what its members can supply. A buyer may struggle to find consistent supply. A financial institution may see a farmer without seeing the agricultural activity behind that farmer.
That is the problem AgricTrail is trying to solve.
We are building the digital infrastructure that can connect these parts of the agricultural journey — from the farm, through organisations, aggregation, markets and finance, to programmes and institutions.
But we know that software alone is not enough.
That is why the trail must eventually connect to the real economy: the people, organisations, markets, storage, transport, finance and infrastructure that make agricultural value move.
We are still building. Some parts of the trail are further along than others. We will be clear about that.
